A BLUE-GROUND EMBROIDERED SILK 'DRAGON' ROBE

Late Qing dynasty
The royal blue silk embroidered in gold-wrapped threads and polychrome silk floss with nine five-clawed dragons chasing flaming pearls amidst Daoist and Buddhist emblems, auspicious bats, cranes, and cloud scrolls, all above roiling waves and lishui stripes, the long pleated sleeves terminating in horse-hoof cuffs, the cuffs and collar embroidered with further dragons.
