Cataloguer
This prop was originally sold through these rooms in 2004. The catalogue stated at that time that the prop was either made by the M.G.M. prop shop or by Henry Greutert who was a Chief plaster sculptor on the M.G.M. lot. Greutert was uncredited on The Wizard of Oz, but it is claimed that he made the talking apple trees. It is possible that this prop was made for use in the scene where the witch melts after Dorothy throws water at her; this would seem to be the most likely, but a miniature prop witch was also constructed for the scene where she is seen flying around the castle on her way to the Emerald City.
