Introduced in 2020 and based on the F3 800, the Superveloce Ago Limited Edition is a retro-styled sports roadster powered by a three-cylinder engine, a type of power unit used by MV in its Grand Prix racers of the 1960s and 1970s. Giacomo Agostini - 'Ago' - holds the unrivalled record of having won 15 World Championships and 311 Grand Prix races. The most exclusive of various limited-edition models, the MV Agusta Superveloce Ago is, according to its maker: "a neo-classic bike inspired by the Italian brand's glorious racing legacy from the '70s, that features the most advanced technology underneath a compelling retro design".
To celebrate every one of Giacomo Agostini's race victories, MV Agusta has handcrafted 311 units of the Superveloce Ago, the first 15 of which are dedicated to the 15 world titles won in his spectacular racing career. The elegant fuel tank, complete with racing-style leather strap, carries a celebratory carbon-fibre plate. What's more, this exclusive plate - available on numbers '01' to '15' only - has unique graphics carrying both the trophy and the year of the World Championship won by Agostini, while the Bergamo-based champion's personal signature makes this piece of motorcycling art even more attractive to collectors.
The Superveloce Ago is not only one-of-a-kind in terms of styling, but it also features numerous top-level components never seen before on the Superveloce range. The chassis, for example, boasts Öhlins suspension, in particular the 43mm Nix front fork and the TTX36 rear shock absorber; both adjustable for pre-load, compression and rebound. The settings have been developed on the road and track, with specific valving to intensify the Superveloce's dynamic features. Moreover, the adjustable Öhlins steering damper features a CNC-machined support. An additional characteristic element of the Superveloce Ago is the new forged aluminium upper triple clamp, embellished with CNC machining on the top. A special mention must be made of the superbly handcrafted elements of the fairing: the side panels, mudguards, lower tail section and passenger seat cover are all made of carbon fibre. Thanks to the new higher windshield, the Superveloce Ago not only offers better protection but has a distinctive look closely resembling the MV Agusta three-cylinder race bikes ridden by Agostini. The beautiful 3.5" front and 5.5" rear spoked wheels are shod with 120/70 ZR17 and 180/55 ZR17 tyres.
The 798cc three-cylinder engine promises the ultimate in supersport performance. With a 79x54.3mm bore/stroke, 147bhp at 13,000rpm, and maximum torque of 88Nm at 10,100rpm, it is a truly outstanding performer. The contra-rotating crankshaft, an arrangement employed in Moto GP, is a distinctive technological feature, which is complemented by a comprehensive electronics and rider aids package. The latter is based on the MVICS 2.1 platform, which controls the six fuel injectors; interfaces with the inertial platform; and manages the four engine maps and eight-level traction control. In addition, the MV EAS 3.0 (Electronically Assisted Shift up and down) makes for lightning-fast and precise gear shifts.
The MV Agusta Superveloce Ago features some of the most imaginative colours and trim ever applied to a motorcycle. The graphics and colour schemes have been designed specifically for this new work of art. In fact, its livery's refined grey contrasts with the vivid, racing-inspired metallic red.
The Superveloce Ago features a unique racing kit, which includes the Arrow triple exhaust system (homologated for road use) which features two silencers on the right side and one on the left (the standard system is a triple-exit silencer on the right). This new Arrow exhaust system was inspired by the layout employed on MV's racing bikes of the past. What's more, the Arrow asymmetrical exhaust system not only guarantees an increase in power (to 151bhp) and torque, but also underlines the Superveloce Ago's racing pedigree. The Engine Control Unit with dedicated engine mapping is another exclusive element that allows the exhaust system to perform to its maximum. One of the many details that makes the MV Agusta Superveloce Ago kit unique is a pair of red handlebar grips, just like the ones used by Agostini, and the carbon-fibre seat cowl's Alcantara pad. An exclusive bike cover, as well as a certificate guaranteeing the authenticity of this limited-series motorcycle, is included in the sale, all proceeds of which will be donated by MV Agusta to UNICEF's Ukraine emergency fund. Interested parties should note that, as this lot is not yet road-registered, it might need some technical adjustments depending on the country of the new lucky owner. The cost of registration will be invoiced by MV Agusta directly to the purchaser.
