Footnotes

Charlie Chaplin is undoubtedly one of the icons of world entertainment, and is one of just a handful of figures in the history of film-making who are known and loved by different generations all over the globe.
Montblanc have created an astonishing limited edition of just 88 examples that honours and pays homage to this star of stage and screen.
The intricate cog-wheels are made of 18k white gold, which give the illusion of driving one another on the black precious lacquer and titanium construction of the barrel, symbolising the industrial machinations that feature in the legendary move "Modern Times" - the 1936 screen masterpiece which Charlie Chaplin plays the role of the tramp for the last time. The barrel and cone of the pen resemble his famous baggy trousers and his splayed feet, which were always clad in oversized shoes. The cap top with the Mother-of-pearl star portrays his bowler hat, and the clip delivers the magnetic charm of his memorable walking cane, his most indispensable accessory.
