Footnotes

A girl, with arm raised hurries towards a pavilion to shelter from a storm. Her companion catches hold of her other arm to pull her in. The ladies are dressed alike in cyclamen colored bodices, and orange and green skirts, touched with gold. The dark grey terrace and pavilion have gilt ornamentation. In the background a boat drifts in the tailwaters of a long winding river passing beyond a palace as the sunlight fades on the horizon. Golden lightning swirls among the billowing clouds.
