Footnotes

A number of designs for closely related side cabinets to the offered lot appear in the Gillows Estimate Sketch Books throughout much of the period, 1810-circa 1840. All of these comparable examples have very similar characteristics in common with the present model such as bead or gadroon mouldings, channelled pilaster angles headed by scrolled corbels and reeded or lobed bun feet.
