An Austrian silver, silver-gilt and enamel nef

maker's mark KB, possibly for Karl Böhm or Karl Bender, Vienna, late 19th century
The oval hull enamelled overall on the interior and exterior, the sides with acanthus scrolls terminating with grotesque masks and mythological fish and a female herm, on a shaped dome base, enamelled with lobed panels depicting allegorical scenes, the silver-gilt stem modelled as a merman with one arm raised and blowing a conch shell, hinged cover with three masts, each surmounted with a crows nest and pennants and billowing sail below an unfurled sail, the patterned deck and rigging with six enamelled figures, the interior painted with a classical scene, height 25cm, length 13.8cm.
