A Meissen group of Europa and the Bull, late 19th century

Originally modelled by J.J. Kaendler and re-worked by E.A. Leuteritz, the nude Europa clothed only in a yellow cloak, seated on a brown bull with a flower garland draped on its head, two attendants with draperies seated on the ground, a flower basket between them, the base moulded with gilt-edged scrollwork, 22cm high, crossed swords mark in blue with three incised cancellation marks, incised model number 2691, impressed numerals, painter's numeral 9.
