A large Meissen figure of a Malabar musician, late 19th century

After the model by F.E. Meyer of 1751, playing a guitar and with a small box strapped to his back, wearing a straw hat, purple fur-lined coat, turquoise tunic, pink robes with purple flowers and blue shoes, on a base moulded with gilt-edged scrolls, 31.2cm high, crossed swords mark in underglaze-blue with one incised cancellation line, incised model number 1523., impressed numeral, painter's numeral 45. (restoration to neck of instrument and fingers on left hand)
