A Berlin plaque of the 'Five Senses', late 19th century

Decorated by Rudolf Dittrich, signed l.r., after the painting by H. Makart, titled on the reverse, with five vertical panels depicting a nude lady in a landscape holding objects emblematic of the senses, gilt trellis-like bands between, within a giltwood frame, the plaque: 29 x 48.5cm; the frame: 39.8 x 56cm, impressed sceptre and KPM mark, impressed symbols, incised 485 and 290

Hans Makart (1840-1884) was an Austrian academic painter. "The Five Senses", circa 1872-1879, is now in the collection of the Belvedere Museum, Vienna.
