A Group of Bloodletting Instruments,

comprising: three brass scarificators, together with a brass ocular and a medical leech lamp, the largest 3 1/2in (9cm) high (5)

Footnotes

Scarificators were spring-loaded lancets used from the 17th to the 19th centuries. Bloodletting as a medical treatment was closely linked to the ancient concept of humors, to stabilise a patient's internal equilibrium.
