the hinged lid with recessed brass handle opening to a set of fourteen glass medicine bottles, drawer to the base with recessed brass handle and holding pin, opening to a glass measuring tube and two metal pill boxes,
7 1/2in x 6 3/4in x 6 3/4in (19cm x 17cm x 17cm)

Footnotes

One of the most fashionable styles of medicine chest was the hinged trunk-lid, with a single drawer. The functional design provided space for bottles to be stored upright, and for smaller pills and instruments within. For a similar example, see A.M. Young, Antique Medicine Chests, London 1994, p.28, fig.17.
