A Pair of Helios 'PNB-2' Military Observation Binoculars with tripod and accessories,

Russian, mid-20th century,
60 degrees vertical elevation, 360 degrees rotation, with spirit level to the top, each lens 13cm in diameter, on adjustable wooden tripod painted green with pointed feet, the binoculars with two rubber lens caps, in fitted pine case, together with a small latched metal tin containing eight lenses and accessories,
Binoculars at full extension approx. 66 1/2in (169cm) high
Box: 14in x 19in x 17 1/2in (35.5cm x 48.5cm x 44.5cm)
Tripod: 40 1/2in (103cm) closed

Footnotes

'Big Eye' binoculars such as the present Lot provide a high level of magnification, suitable for tactical observation of ground and air targets. The Helios model would mostly have been used by Soviet border guards, with twin handles providing smooth tracking movement.
