Softley & Page, London 2001, the Royal Mint's own Tower mark, incused limited edition numbered 'No 10' out of 250
A realistically modelled fully rigged sixteenth-century sailing vessel, in full sail on an embossed choppy sea, a cartouche with 'Golden Hind' engraved to the fore, all mounted on a circular wooden stand, created by Michael J. Softley on commission of The Royal Mint, with original certificate, height 16cm, diameter 15cm.

Footnotes

Sir Francis Drake circumnavigated the globe between 1577 and 1580. His ship was originally known as 'Pelican', but he renamed her in 1578 mid voyage after his patron and sponsor Sir Christopher Hatton whose crest was a 'Golden Hind', which is a female red deer.
