A Battle of Britain Lace Panel, 1942-1946,

the lower banner reading 'Never Was So Much Owed By So Many To So Few - Churchill', manufactured by Dobsons and M. Browne and Co. Ltd. of Nottingham, a Nottingham woven lace panel depicting finely detailed scenes of the bombing of London, landmarks including St Paul's Cathedral, The Old Bailey, Buckingham Palace and the House of Commons, with badges of the R.A.F. and Royal Air Forces of New Zealand, Canada, Australia, and South Africa,

The Battle of Britain panel was produced to 'perpetuate that glorious Epic' in British history, and 'as a tribute to those who so gallantly saved this Island'. Due to the complexity of the design and production of the lace panels, fewer than forty panels were woven, all of which were presentation copies.

The design and weaving of the panels reputedly took over 3 years to complete and required 40,000 jacquard pattern cards, 975 bobbins and 41,830m of cotton for each panel. Upon completion, one panel was presented to Winston Churchill, another to King George VI, and to numerous Air Forces across the Commonwealth.
