the cartouche printed NEWTON'S NEW AND IMPROVED CELESTIAL GLOBE, On which all the Stars taken from the best Authorities are recalculated and accurately laid down, Manufactures by NEWTON & SON CHANCERY LANE, London, Published June 1849, the sphere applied with hand coloured gores, showing the heavens and signs of the zodiac, mounted in brass meridian, within horizon ring applied with degree scales, calendar, and zodiac names, on mahogany tripod stand with stretcher,

Footnotes

John Newton (1759-1844) established the Newton family firm in 1780, having first trained under Thomas Bateman. Newton only produced pocket globes initially, before producing larger globe sizes and table globes. His son William (1786-1861) later joined the business at Chancery Lane.
