A Swansea platter from the Lysaght Service, circa 1817-20

Of rectangular form with a lobed rim, painted at the factory by Henry Morris with a basket of flowers resting on a stone plinth, including daffodils, roses, tulips and stocks, the plinth hung with a garland of purple flowers, the deep blue border richly gilded, 32cm wide

There appear to be a number of services painted with this distinctive pattern. They are mostly likely to have been made during the Bevington period, sharing the same creamy paste and simplified handle forms with a number of other services from this slightly later period. This tray or platter is one of a number of forms not found in the earlier Dillwyn period and provides an unusually large surface area for decoration.
