A Champion's Bristol cabinet coffee can and saucer, circa 1775

Of cylindrical shape, the distinctive ear-shaped handle embossed with husks and foliate terminals, the saucer of deep profile, painted in neo-classical style with bands of green husks and trailing foliage, within gilt lines and a band of interlocking gilt circles, gilt dentil rims, can 7cm high; saucer 13cm diam, saucer with blue cross mark, both pieces with gilder's numeral 1 (2)

Although other factories were also emulating the latest tastes from Continental Europe, the shape of moulded handle on this can is peculiar to Champion's Bristol amongst contemporary English manufacturers.
