Sebastian Cruset's topographic depictions of New York City were frequently completed from treacherous vantage points from the city's bridges and buildings and are unique for their perspective and precision in detail. North View Queensboro Bridge depicts the East River, the Northern tip of Roosevelt Island, and the shores of Manhattan and Queens from one of the upper balconies of the bridge. The city, though blanketed in snow on a sunny January day, is shown full of activity with boats making their way south on the river at full speed and industrial smokestacks billowing smoke on both shores. Cruset emphasizes the stunning perspective by depicting the shadows of the bridge that are discernible in the foreground.
