THE YOUNGER FAMILY IN PHOTOGRAPHS.

KUHN, J.M., photographer. [Portrait of Cole, Jim, Bob and Henrietta Younger.] Albumen print cabinet card portrait of the four Younger siblings, 5 3/8 x 4 inches laid down to 6 3/8 x 4 1/4 inch board, 1889, with photographer's imprint at lower mount ("J.M. Kuhn / Stillwater Minn."), ink notation to verso ("Copyright secured by Mrs. Retta Younger Rawlins"), mild thumbing to mount, pinhole at upper center.
Provenance: purchased from Johnny Spellman, College Station, 1990.

In September of 1889 Henrietta "Retta" Younger, traveled from Missouri to Minnesota to plead for the release of her beloved older brothers. She was not successful, but she was allowed to bring the brothers new suits of clothes and have a photographer take portraits.
