A shibayama-inlaid ivory stand and an ivory manju netsuke
Meiji era (1868-1912), late 19th/early 20th century
The first a stand of rectangular form with a low shelf and rear panel, the front with a retractable brass holder, inlaid in typical Shibayama style on both sides and the rear panel with various plants, birds and insects, unsigned, 11.1cm x 6.9cm (4 3/8in x 2¾in); the second an ivory manju netsuke with a cockatoo leaning down on an ornamental stand, signed on the underside in a rectangular metal reserve Tounsai, 4.6cm (1 13/16in) diam. (2).
