Two ivory figure netsuke
Edo period (1615-1868) to Meiji era (1868-1912), 19th century/early 20th century
The first a fox priest transforming into human form, looking to the left while its human hands rest on a tall bamboo cane, unsigned, 6.8cm (2 11/16in) high; the second Shoki the Demon-queller, leaning over and pressing one foot down on the lid of a basin, trapping a demon inside, inscribed in an incised oval reserve Masakazu, 4.1cm (1 5/8in) long. (2).
