Three various animal netsuke
Edo period (1615-1868) to Meiji era (1868-1912), 19th/early 20th century
The first marine ivory of a chubby puppy, tearing off a strap of a straw sandal with its teeth, the eyes inlaid, signed in a leaf-shaped reserve Tadachika, 3.2cm (1¼in) long; the second ivory of a collared cat, curling around a clam with a rope in its mouth, the eyes inlaid, unsigned, 3.6cm (1 3/8in) long; the third ivory of a recumbent ox, a rope halter running through its nose and trailing across its back, the eyes inlaid, inscribed in a raised oval reserve Tomotada, 5.7cm (2¼in) long.
