An ivory netsuke of a pair of quails on millet
Edo period (1615-1868) or Meiji era (1868-1912), 19th century
Facing opposite directions, the pair seated side by side on two large millet heads with long leaves, one of which forms the cord holes, the eyes inlaid; inscribed on a leaf Shichijuhachi-o Okatomo (Okatomo, an old man of 78 years). 3.6cm (1 7/16in) long.
