Two ivory netsuke
Edo period (1615-1868) to Meiji era (1868-1912), 19th century
The first Shoki the Demon-queller emerging from a partially unrolled hanging scroll painting, pursuing a small demon shown on the reverse making off with a small stupa, the roller ends of wood, signed Shuosai with two seals, 4.4cm (1¾in) long; the second a demon polishing a large bell, the bell with a loose ball inside, the eyes inlaid, signed Tomomasa, 3.7cm (1½in) high. (2).
