Two ivory netsuke of Shoki the Demon-queller and demons
Edo period (1615-1868) or Meiji era (1868-1912), 19th century
The first Shoki tightly holding a struggling demon and broadsword, the eyes inlaid, signed Chikusai, 6.6cm (2 5/8in) high; the second Shoki pinning down a demon at his feet, bearing a fierce expression, holding his sword with the blade pointing behind, the demon's right leg helplessly extending behind, signed [...]getsu, 4.2cm (1 11/16in) high.
