Two ivory figure netsuke
Edo period (1615-1868) to Meiji era (1868-1912), 19th century
The first a demon cowering beneath a large straw hat, sheltering from beans thrown during the Setsubun ceremony to exorcise him, unsigned, 3.5cm (1 3/8in) long; the second of two demons grieving over the severed arm of the Rashomon Demon, the smaller demon clutching rosary beads, unsigned, 3.8cm (1½in) long. (2).
