Four ivory figure netsuke
Edo period (1615-1868) to Meiji era (1868-1912), 19th century
The first Shoki the Demon-queller pinning a demon to the ground, signed in a red lacquer reserve Gyokubun, 4.6cm (1 7/8in); the second a seated Raijin grasping a stem cup, an immortal knelt beside him holding a sake ewer enticing him to drink more, signed Ikkosai, 4.1cm (1 5/8in) long; the third Shoki fighting two demons, holding his sword beneath one demon's neck, unsigned, 3.3cm (1 5/16in) long; the fourth a demon clipping an old man's toenails, probably signed Masaharu, 4.7cm (1 7/8in) long.
