An ivory netsuke of a horse in a gourd

Edo period (1615-1868) or Meiji era (1868-1912), 19th century
The horse hoisting itself out of an opening in the lower half of the double gourd, the gourd's base hollowed to form the cord hole, the stopper at the mouth of the gourd inlaid; unsigned. 4.9cm (1 15/16in) high.
