A Birmingham or South Staffordshire enamel lion bonbonnière, circa 1770-80
Modelled as a mournful lion, lying curled on a grassy mound, his coat and shaggy mane picked out in tones of ochre and brown, the hinged lid painted with figure in a rural landscape, 5.4cm wide
