Rooted in the epic of the 1821 uprising and engraved in the Greek soul as a mythical figure and national symbol, the evzone1 took part in all national campaigns for independence and freedom. Here, portrayed in his signature kilt-like fustanella highland garb, Nicholas's charging evzone captures Greece's heroic and glorious stand against the fascist invasion in 1940-1941.
