A charismatic raconteur and visual poet, Alexis Akrithakis created an enchanting dreamworld of vivid colours and bold shapes that convey a childlike wonder and an insistent search for joy. In the 1990s, inspired by the black and white drawings of his earlier work, he isolated, modified, enlarged and revived some of his signature autobiographical forms, giving them a new narrative meaning and imbuing them with a new life.
