A THANGKA OF SHRI DEVI MAGZOR GYALMO
EASTERN TIBET, LATE 19TH/EARLY 20TH CENTURY

Riding her mule through a sea of blood, Shri Devi Magzor Gyalmo is joined by her attendants Simhamukha and Makaramukha, and the Four Queens of the Seasons in the lower section. The painting style echoes works by the Tibetan artist Khazi Lhazo (a. early 19th century). Compare to a closely related earlier painting of Shri Devi, likely done by Khazi Lhazo (HAR 65849).

Provenance
Private European Collection assembled in the 1960s and 1970s
