Footnotes

A GILT COPPER ALLOY SHRINE TO VASUDHARA
NEPAL, 19TH CENTURY

A bronze figure of Indra in the David R. Nalin Collection provides an excellent stylistic comparison, being dated by inscription to 1840 CE (Vajracharya, Nepalese Seasons, 2016, p.156-7, no.50). Also compare a Garudasana sharing a similar open-work lotus base published in von Schroeder, Indo-Tibetan Bronzes, Hong Kong, 1981, p.385, no.104E.

Provenance
Private European Collection assembled in the 1960s and 1970s
