A PAIR OF BRONZE ARROW VASES, TOUHU
Qing Dynasty
Each with a compressed globular body and a tall cylindrical neck incised with cicada blade lappets, flanked by a pair of lug handles on the top cast with taotie masks on each side reserved on key-fret grounds, similarly decorated on the main section divided by projecting flanges, all raised on a waisted flaring stand. Each 29.2cm (11 1/2in) high, 3.1kg. (2).

Compare with an almost identical bronze taotie 'arrow' vase, 16/17th century, which was sold at Sotheby's Paris, 9 November 2021, lot 67.
壺口方唇,兩側鑄貫耳,其上鏨刻饕餮紋,頸部分兩段中間起弦紋一道,上刻蕉叶紋,下刻山崖紋,肩部內圈錾刻如意雲紋一周,外圈鏨刻回紋,扁圓鼓腹,出四粗扉棱,四面皆飾饕餮紋,束腰圈足光素無紋。
參考一件巴黎蘇富比售出之十六/十七世紀銅饕餮紋投壺,如出一轍,2021年11月9日,拍品編號67。
