A PAIR OF ZITAN 'LINGZHI-FUNGUS' WEIQI BOXES AND COVERS

Each naturalistically carved in the form of a large lingzhi-fungus heads with a cluster of four smaller lingzhi heads atop the cover, the underside of the cover carved with grooves and protruding bosses, the wood of rich brown patina. Each 13.5cm (5 1/4in) wide. (4).

See a related zitan box and cover similarly carved in the form of a lingzhi-head, attributed to the Imperial Workshop, which was sold at Sotheby's Hong Kong, 8 April 2010, lot 1726.

盒身整木鏇就，外壁凹凸嶙峋與盒蓋融為一體，盒蓋雕成靈芝菌蓋形，大蓋之上再圓雕數朵小靈芝，皆一木做成。
