Footnotes
Curtis's Los Angeles Studios in the Biltmore Hotel and on La Cienega Boulevard did a brisk business in portraiture and weddings, including those of Hollywood celebrities. When former child star Shirley Temple married fellow actor John Agar in 1945, Curtis was hired to create her formal wedding portrait. This signed example hung in the home of Curtis's daughter Beth and her husband Mag, who from the 1920s took over the day-to-day running of the studio.
