A CURTIS STUDIOS ART DECO CARVED OAK BUSINESS SIGN.

Carved oak letters mounted on pedestal, 9 x 28 3/4 x 4 inches, minor wear. After his bitter divorce, Curtis moved to Los Angeles with his daughter Beth to open a photography studio in the Biltmore Hotel downtown. This elegantly carved Art Deco sign graced the premises of their Biltmore Hotel studio, drawing in their well-to-do clientele for portraiture that paid the bills while Curtis pursued his North American Indian project.
Provenance: Purchased by Dr. Billy Utley from Manford "Mag" Magnuson.
