22 cyanotypes, with images of Clayoquot, Hesquiat and other Nootka tribes, including portraits and photographs made en plein air of fishing and boating, many of which are related to or variants of published images, the images measuring approximately 8 x 6 inches (203 x 152 mm); all numbered in grease pencil on the reverse and a few additionally annotated with "West Coast" or the picture's title, 1915-1916.
Provenance: Purchased by Dr. Billy Utley from Manford "Mag" Magnuson.

For Volume 11 of The North American Indian Curtis returned to his home region of the Pacific Northwest coast for the third and final time, devoting most of the album to the Haida and the Nookta tribes on Vancouver Island. Present here are images of canoes in Boston Cove, "The Whaler," and Clayoquot Sound.
