Mrs. Scott published her book, Views in the Himalayas, in aid of the Lawrence Asylum for the orphans of British soldiers near Simla, and in response from friends for "some correct views of Scenes in the Himalayas familiar to the everyday traveller.... [So she] commenced the undertaking with slight prospects of success; delicate health, limited hours, and the rainy season, materially interrupting the progress of the drawings, which required to be finished on the spot" (Archer and Lightbown, India Observed, 1982).
