Returned from leading the Nimrod expedition, on 29 June Shackleton was introduced to the House of Commons, an event commemorated in Benjamin Stone's group photograph depicting Shackleton seated beside former Prime Minister A.J. Balfour, Chinese Minister Li Jinfang, Sir Edward Pears, Aston Webb, and others, including several shipowners and ironmasters.
