Footnotes

As an architect and draftsman fascinated by the history and culture of Morocco, in 1912, Maurice Tranchant de Lunel was appointed director of the Department of Antiquities, Fine Art and Historic Monuments of the French protectorate in Morocco. This interest led to his appointment as the designer of the Grand Mosque of Paris, completed in 1926.
