果洛 西藏東北部 十九世紀末 寧瑪上師唐卡
At the center of this vivid thangka is the large portrait of an unidentified teacher enthroned before an altar of offerings. The composition's vibrant hues and sinicized motifs, such as the red lacquer throne and pearl-wielding dragons, indicate that this thangka was produced in a Tibetan province close to Qing China in the 19th century. In addition, the presence in the top right corner of Do Khyentse Yeshe Dorje (1800-86), from the Northeastern province of Golok, reaffirms this attribution. Yeshe Dorje, who is identified by an accompanying inscription, was an important Nyingma master (see treasuryoflives.org no.9612). His inclusion, as well as that of Samantabhadra, whom the Nyingma consider the Primordial Buddha, at top center, also suggests that the central subject was a guru from the Nyingma order of Tibetan Buddhism. From left to right in the landscape below are three guardians: Shadbhuja Mahalaka, a regional protector deity, and Ekajati.
