Sir Henry Tate was one of the most successful business entrepreneurs of Victorian Britain and a significant benefactor and patron for the Arts. He also is widely known for his position as one of the pioneers in the sugar refining industry. After creating substantial wealth he became one of the greatest art collectors of the Victorian era resulting in the birth of the world famous "Tate Gallery" in London.
