A KAWARI KABUTO (ECCENTRICALLY SHAPED HELMET)

Edo period (1615-1868), 17th century
The momonari (peach-shaped) helmet lacquered in a vibrant red lacquer, fitted with a large five-lame kiritsuke o-manju shikoro laced in dark blue in kebiki-style lacing, with large wakidate formed as bovine horns lacquered black and finished with orbs decorated in kinpaku (gold foil), the helmet adorned with a circular black-lacquer maedate family crest
With Tokubetsu Hozon (Especially Worthy of Preservation) certificate no. 12042113 issued by the Kokusai Nihon Kachu Bugu Shinko Kyokai (International Society for the Promotion of Japanese Armor)
