Muromachi (1333-1573), Momoyama (1573-1615), or Edo (1615-1868) period, 16th/17th century
Of typical outline with four double lobes, the rim hammered up, chiseled with a wave pattern inlaid with silver dots of spray
With a wood storage box bearing an inscription by the sword historian Sato Kanzan Hishigata yamaganeji kebori mumei tachishi (Rhomboid yamagane ground tsuba with line engraving by a tachi specialist), dated fall 1964 and signed Kanzan shi with two seals
The tsuba 2 1/2in (6.2cm) high
