Ex-Estate of Ambassador & Mrs. Joseph Verner Reed Jr. (second painting)
Among his decades of service to the United States of America and the United Nations, Joseph Verner Reed Jr. (1937-2016) was appointed by President Reagan as Ambassador of the United States of America to the Kingdom of Morocco in 1981. He served as the Chief of Protocol of the White House for George H.W. Bush between 1989-1991, and as Under-Secretary-General of the UN under Secretary-General Kofi A. Annan and Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. Reed was the head of the Arts Committee at the UN and established an art collection at the UN headquarters. He is praised for making its Headquarters not just an interesting place to visit, but a beautiful sight to behold.
