Footnotes

印度東北部 帕拉時期 約十二世紀 黑石毘濕奴石碑

Nicely carved in openwork, the stele centers Vishnu holding a mace and chakra in his upraised hands, with his lower right hand in the wish-granting gesture (varadamudra) resting on a lotus. His consorts Lakshmi and Sarasvati join him at either side. At the top, celestial garland bearers flank the protective mask of a kirtimukha. The stele compares closely to another of the same scale and subject sold at Christie's, New York, 20 March 2008, lot 738.
