LOCKHEED SUPERSONIC TRANSPORT CONTRACTOR'S MODEL

TRANSITIONAL DESIGN OF THE CL-83
Composite model on wooden base, approximately 675 x 320 mm, c.1963.
Attractive model that dates from the period Lockheed was among the contenders vying for the U.S. government subsidies for a supersonic transport that could compete with the Anglo-French Concorde. This model appears to be a late transition from the original CL-83 design with the separate fore wings eliminated and now with a double delta form that eliminated the need for the canard of the original design.
