SPANNING THE HISTORY OF AEROPHILATELY.
Collection of approximately 58 items including:
1. Flown cover, postmarked October 5, 1935, San Francisco; October 15, 1935, Guam; and October 24, 1931 San Francisco again; and on the verso October 5, Alameda; October 13, Guam, with 2 Pan-American Clipper stamps, one for westbound flight and the other for the eastbound flight. One of a very few carried both ways.
2. Broadside, 235 x 145, November 24, 1935, being an advert to post mail on Willy Ley's Rocket Airplane.
3. Flown cover, postmarked December 29, 1937 at Auckland, New Zealand and January 6, 1938 in San Francisco, having been sent on the first New Zealand to United States airmail flight on the Samoan Clipper.
4. Flown cover, multiple postmarks including for New York City, Seattle, Washington, Nome, Alaska, July 27, 1922 through March 23, 1923, having traveled with the Maud Expedition, with 5 "North Polar Amundsen Expedition Air Mail" stamps, two of which with "Ari Mail" misspelling.
5. Flown photographic postcard, postmarked September 24, 1911, "Aeroplane Station No.1 / Garden City Estates, N.Y." and stamped "Aerial Special Despatch," the first official U.S. Airmail flight.
6. Flown picture postcard, cancelled August 24, 1912, [Plainfield, NJ], "Aeroplane Mail Route."
7. Flown cover, postmarked Harbour Grace, Newfoundland October 9, 1930 and Lowestoft, England October 15, 1930, signed by J. Erroll Boyd as pilot and Harry P. Connor as "navigator 'Columbia,'" with Transatlantic airmail stamp.
